Huda Kattan says you can use Vagisil as a primer (yes, really)

WHY?!

Cathy Donohue

Vagisil as a primer

Vagisil.

Yep, beauty phenomenon Huda Katta, tried the above cream, used to treat yeast infections FYI, as a makeup primer.

I’m aware that the above idea sounds completely bonkers but Huda has a specific reason for giving it a go.

Vagisil contains dimethicone, which is a silicone-based polymer and as mentioned previously, silicone is a key ingredient for primers.

In addition to helping with vaginal itching, dimethicone is often used in makeup primers because it works to form a protective barrier on the skin, thus preventing your base from melting away.

So, while the idea of using a yeast infection treatment on your face sounds like an off-the-wall idea, Huda’s reasoning actually makes sense.

In the above YouTube tutorial, Huda also tried KY Jelly and unsurprisingly that slipped off but her third option, Milk of Magnesia, a standard medicine cupboard item, can also help to control shine in oily areas.

This isn’t the first time Milk of Magnesia has been suggested as a primer either.

Celebrity makeup artist, Julianne Kaye, previously explained why she believes Milk of Magnesia is a suitable makeup primer.

It mops up excess oil, leaving a perfectly matte finish with Julianne telling The Daily Mail:

“A lot of the water-based primers on the market just feel like another moisturiser and the silicone-based primers feel waxy or, while they’ll matt you down, they still don’t stick…

“When you put milk of magnesia on your face you can actually feel that veil over the skin”.
