The position of a spot can indicate a lot about your health

Cassie Delaney

Unless you have a spot popping fetish, chances are you find pimples extremely pesky.

Everyone can be affected and we’ve generally consoled ourselves knowing there’s no rhyme or reason to them and their timing. It’s typical that you’ll get one before an interview, a date or a big night out.

But while their arrival might be inevitable at certain times, their placement is not. And, as it turns out, the area of where your spot chooses to surface can say an awful lot about your health.

According to Cosmopolitan, if spots erupt between your brows, above your nose, you’re super stressed or going through puberty. That T-zone is likely affected because of an increase in adrenaline, which also increases oil production. If you feel yourself getting stressed, try apply a leave on acne-treatment cream to avoid the pimples.

Moving out, the areas on your forehead above the eyebrows are mostly affected by diet. A breakout is likely to occur here if you’ve eaten fatty foods. It is recommended that you cleanse this area by chugging antioxidant-rich tea and water.

Spots close to the ear and insides of the eye are often attributed to dehydration. To avoid these drink an absolute tonne of water.

Pimples on the cheeks are actually more linked to using dirty phones or touching your face with dirty hands. Dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner says using anti-bacterial wipes on your devices daily will help alleviate these.

Spots around the mouth are unsurprisingly linked to foods. Residue from acidic foods may cause inflammation while grease from other foods can actually cause a blockage in pores. Using a facial wipe to really clean the area around the mouth after eating will help prevent these.

Finally, spots on the neck can indicate that your body is fighting off an infection. If you’ve got a breakout there and are feeling a bit peckish, the best thing to do is to relax and head to bed for a few hours.
