Bette Midler Hits A Nerve With Frank Tweet About The Oscars
As we near the climax of awards season, The Oscars, we've all gotten swept up in the Leo Di Caprio jokes.
The actor is in there for Best Actor for The Revenant, and after narrowly missing the win countless times, the jibes are rampant.
However, Bette Midler has taken to Twitter to point out the less funny side of things, in the wake of controversy surrounding multiracial representation at this year's awards.
The subject has been extremely sensitive this year, with the lack of racial diversity on the nominees list resulting in Will Smith and director Spike Lee sitting the ceremony out this year.
The Academy responded by saying that this issue will be addressed in future ceremonies, but this isn't good enough for Bette Midler, who has today tweeted:
"The Oscars are today! You know, the awards show where Leonardo DiCaprio is "overdue" but black people can "wait til next year".

The tweet has obviously hit a nerve, with 6.5K retweets in just one hour after posting.
Food for thought!
