Gwyneth Paltrow Is Offering Some Pretty Unusual Beauty And Health Advice
She has had some interesting takes on healthy eating and her Goop website has been the cause of some raised eyebrows, but Gwynnie’s latest beauty and fitness advice may have just gone too far.
The 42-year old was giving advice to readers about engaging pelvic floor muscles, and advised women to pee in the shower.
The site, which previously promoted vagina steams, offered the controversial advice in a post titled ‘The Secrets Of The Pelvic Floor’.
Explaining the method to her madness, Gwyneth writes:
“Try peeing in the shower squatting down. When you squat to pee as opposed to sitting straight up on the toilet, you automatically engage your pelvic floor and it naturally strengthens and tones.
“Because your urethra is pointed straight down in this position all you have to do is relax for urine to flow out easily- as opposed to sitting up straight and having to strain to empty your bladder.”
What if you can’t bring yourself to squat and release in the shower?
The alternative is having more sex to boost your pelvic floor power (which we’re a lot more likely to get on board with…)
So what are the benefits of building up your pelvic floor muscles?
Expert Lauren Roxburgh explains that as well as managing urinary incontinence, working your pelvic floor muscles leads to a flatter tummy and great sex.
