“I Smoked Too Much Pot As A Kid” – Musician Sia Speaks Out About Bipolar Diagnosis

Australian music star Sia spoke about her bipolar diagnosis on American radio show The Howard Stern Show this week.

When asked by the show’s host if she feels that she was born with bipolar disorder or that it happened as a result of her childhood experiences, Sia said that she has a theory.

“I refrain from blaming anything on my parents. I think that everyone does their best. What I do think, is that I smoked too much pot as a kid,” she said. “My brain wasn’t fully formed. I f***ed my brain up”.

Sia, who began smoking marijuana when she was 13, also spoke out about she saw her father as having two different personalities: anguished Stan and kind Phil”.

When Stan came round, stuff got scary”. However, she stressed that Stan’s behaviour was never violent but it “was an energy that came into the room”.

The singer also said that ” I didn’t know who I was until three and a half years ago. I was relieved when I found out I was an alcoholic. I had absolutely no idea, I thought I was relaxing”.
