Lindsay Lohan’s latest comments give us hope for Mean Girls sequel

She's on board.

It is without a doubt the one of the best films out there for young women.

Mean Girls is the perfect combination of intelligent writing, hilarious acting and an impressive insight into the way young women sometimes act and pit against each other.

Even people who haven’t seen it probably know most of the quotes from, ‘the limit does not exist’ to ‘she made out with a hotdog’.

So it’s safe to say our love for the film has not decreased in any way and that we are still holding out for  a sequel.

There was a sequel to the film in 2011 but was a standalone TV movie with a completely separate story-line and cast, so it really doesn’t count.

We’re not alone in wanting a sequel however as lead actress Lindsay Lohan herself even says she wants it to happen.

In a recent interview with CNN and Facebook Live she said:

”I have been trying so hard to do a Mean Girls 2 – it is not in my hands.

But I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it.”

I’ve already written a treatment for it, so I just need a response.”

This is not the first time she’s expressed her hope of a sequel as in 2014 she did an interview with Time Out in which she said she would basically ‘harass’ Tina Fey for a second one.

“I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said we should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they’re all housewives and they’re all cheating. That would be really funny.

“I’ll harass Tina to write it.” She said at the time.

If those two years of ‘harassment’ really didn’t work we’re not sure what will.

But we can’t help but dream.

Imagine the girls over a decade latter battling in out in the corporate world or over who is a better mother. The plot possibilities are endless really…
