Skipping a major royal tradition.

Last week it was reported that Prince George had been taken on his first grouse hunt and people criticised this decision, sharing their thoughts on social media.

Now it has emerged that Prince Harry decided against going on the hunt himself and it’s been suggested that he declined because Meghan Markle is well-known for supporting animal welfare.

The hunt took place at Balmoral, the Queen’s Scottish residence, and according to reports, Harry didn’t go because he didn’t want to risk upsetting his wife.

It was reported that the Duchess of Cambridge took her son George on the hunt and other members of the royal family, including the Queen and Prince Charles joined them for lunch later on.

There was no mention of Harry though and it’s also thought that this was part of the reason he missed another hunt which took place during Christmas 2017.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, a source said:

“The Boxing Day shoot was always going to be a tricky issue. Meghan is a keen animal rights campaigner and doesn’t like hunting in any form.”

“Harry loves it and has always been out there on Boxing Day. But if it means breaking with long-standing royal traditions to avoid upsetting her, so be it. It’s fair to say that there are some pretty stunned faces around here”.

Of course, the fact he wasn’t there on the day may have had nothing to do with Meghan but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating.
