Devastating news.
BBC radio presenter Rachael Bland has passed away at the age of 40, following a 2-year battle with breast cancer.
Rachael was diagnosed in 2016, and underwent months of grueling treatment.
However, in May of this year, the mum-of-one found out that her cancer was terminal.
On Monday of this week, Rachael shared her final tweet, informing her followers that she had just days to live.
“In the words of the legendary Frank [Sinatra] – I’m afraid the time has come my friends.”
In the words of the legendary Frank S – I’m afraid the time has come my friends. And suddenly. I’m told I’ve only got days. It’s very surreal. Thank you so much for all the support I’ve received. Debs and lozz will continue with the #youmebigc podcast. Au revoir my friends. 💋💋 pic.twitter.com/DhMurbqMJz

Rachael fought an incredible battle over the last two years, which included clinical trials.
Sadly, the cancer was aggressive, and started to spread.
Rachael explained she had “extensive skin metastases in my left breast and chest, mets to the nodes above the collar bone on the left side.”
Our beautiful, courageous Rachael died peacefully this morning surrounded by her close family. We are crushed but she would want me to thank everyone who took an interest in her story or sent messages of support. You’ll never know how much they meant to her. “So that’s skin, nodes liver, bones, lung. I think even the unscientific amongst you can do the math on that one,” she added.
The beautiful Rachael Bland leaves behind her husband, Steve, and their two-year-old son.
Our thoughts are with the family during this devastating time!
