Yep, we’ve had so many false dawns and empty promises before but it appears that the wheels are finally in motion with regards to new music from ABBA.
Who knows? Maybe the money, money, money is right this time? Perhaps the pop icons felt that now is the perfect time to answer the S.O.S from their fans?
Does you mother know this news? Ok, we’ll stop. We don’t want this to be our Waterloo moment.
On this note, feel free to tell her that ABBA’s Benny Andersson has said that the group is hoping to release some new music later this year.
As you can see in the clip below, Andersson was recently asked when the band will be releasing new music, to which he says: “They’re coming this year. I’m guessing after the summer. But I can only guess, because I’m not really sure. But I would think so.”
He adds: “One shouldn’t promise anything but if I were to decide myself, it would be September,” before saying: “I can’t make that decision alone. But that’s what we’re aiming for.”
After nearly 40 years apart – a split that frequently saw so many rumours of a reunion and new music on the horizon – it appears that the band are back together.

In a previous interview with Ekstra Bladettabloid (via Variety), Bjorn Ulvaeus said that at least one of the new songs — which are called ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ — will be released “in September or October” of 2020.
A year ago, ABBA announced that they had recorded the new songs for a Virtual ABBA experience in collaboration with American Idol creator Simon Fuller.
Ulvaeus told Denmark’s Ekstra Bladettabloid that “it takes an extremely long time” to make a video with the avatars of the group members, adding that “it has been delayed for too long”.
Benny Andersson previously said that legal complications had delayed the release of the tracks but after nearly four decades away, the countdown is now on.
