Bridget Jones And The Thing – The Best Films On TV This Week

It's our picks of the week.

Sue Murphy

There are so many films on TV on a weekly basis, we thought we would draw your attention to some of the better movies that you can check out from the comfort of your own home. Here are seven of the best films that are on TV this week.

1. Reservoir Dogs, Monday, TG4, 9.30pm.

This was really the film that put Quentin Tarantino on the map, especially for the script. You can’t forget THAT dance scene in the middle. Pure classic…

2. Romancing the Stone, Tuesday, E4, 8pm.

Revolving around a romance writer who heads to the jungle to ransom her kidnapped sister, the film, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, is just simply tonnes of fun.

3. American Gangster, Wednesday, RTÉ 1, 21.40pm.

Arguably one of Denzel’s finest roles, American Gangster tells the story of a detective who tries to bring down a drug empire during the 1970’s.

4. The Thing, Thursday,  ITV4, 22.55pm.

One of the best horror films ever, hands down, The Thing features one of the most frightening creatures to grace the silver screen. Stranded in the Arctic, a team discover something that should have never been found.

5. Zombieland, Friday, RTÉ 2, 9pm.

Zombie-filled America. One guy on a mission to get home. One guy trying to find the Last Twinkie. Two sisters trying to stay alive. One brilliant cameo from Bill Murray. General fun.

6. Bridget Jones, Saturday, TV3, 9pm.

Does she really need an introduction?

7. Kick-Ass, Sunday, Channel 4, 10.05pm.

The first of the two films and infinitely better than the second instalment, Kick-Ass told the story of a superhero who wasn’t exactly the greatest superhero in the world.
