It's November and that means that Christmas ads are starting to appear on our screens - and who better to lead the pack than the most magical of them all, Disney. The film studio has released the final part of its festive trilogy as it tells the story of a young girl meeting her baby sibling for the first time. The three minute short film The Gift was released on TV, Disney+ and YouTube on Wednesday in partnership with children’s charity Make-A-Wish and is as heartwarming as Disney always is. This is the third and last instalment of Disney’s From Our Family To Yours Christmas adverts, telling the story of the family's youngest daughter Ella. Last year's ad The Stepdad saw Mike move into his partner Nicole's family home with her children Ella and Max and in 2020, the ad saw a Mickey Mouse toy being gifted to Lola by her father in 1940, who turns out to be Nicole's grandmother in the modern day.

The Gift see's Ella being disappointed when her pregnant mum can't ice skate and breaks decorations due to her pregnancy, and then arrives home with a new sibling.

Ella gives the baby her glow in the dark Mickey Mouse soft toy that had been given to her by Maz at the beginning of the short. Disney has encouraged fans to donate to Make-A-Wish and is matching all donations the charity receives up to $100,000. And like any good Disney production, there is an Easter Egg hidden as the Frozen design on Sanka the dog’s jacket seen in the ice-skating scene. And of course, to make it that bit more special, the song A Little More playing is performed by Jessica Darrow, the voice of Luisa Madrigal in Disney’s Oscar-winning 2021 film Encanto.
