Hilary Duff to star in How I Met Your Mother sequel series

This is what dreams are made of.

In the entertainment world’s most unlikely crossover since Macauley Culkin and Brenda Song, Hilary Duff is set to star in the new How I Met Your Mother spin-off.

How I Met Your Father has been ordered by Hulu and the Lizzie McGuire star will play the show’s lead.

According to Variety, the spinoff series will see Sophie (Duff) regaling her children with stories of how she met their father.

Very Ted Mosby indeed.

Additionally, the series will have a slightly more modern touch than its predecessor. We can expect social media and dating apps to play a prominent role in the story.

By the looks of it, How I Met Your Father is in very capable hands. The writers and producers on board, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, have worked on This Is Us and Love Victor.

Fans of the show will be relieved to hear that How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will serve as executive producers on the upcoming spin-off series.

Duff spoke recently about how much the original series meant to her.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” she said.

“As a huge fan of ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby.

“Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can’t wait to work alongside them and all of their genius.”

The Disney channel star admitted to ‘fangirling” when she found out she was cast in the project.

“I realise these are big shoes to fill and I’m excited to slip my 6 ½’s in there!” she said.

It’s not clear just yet exactly when How I Met Your Father will be released.
