Yessss!

Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling was one of the breakout hits of the year.

The novel has been on the bestseller list since it was released in August and, according to published Gill Books, is set to be one of the biggest sellers this holiday season.

The authors, Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, have now signed a two-book deal to keep the adventures of Aisling going.

And it sounds like there could be even more adventures for Aisling in store, as Gill Books confirmed that a film deal is being negotiated.

A spokesperson for Easons dubbed the novel “an Irish Bridget Jones”, adding:

“Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling is the hottest debut of 2017.

“It’s incredible to see a break-out Irish hit like this doing battle for the No. 1 spot week after week with perennial favourites like Lee Child, Marian Keyes and Ross O’Carroll Kelly.”

And while (most of) the details of the plot line for the second book are being kept under wraps, the authors did drop a hint at what fans can expect.

They said:

“Aisling and best friend Majella are forced to move back Down Home with their respective parents (and some unlikely new neighbours) and, as you can imagine, hilarity ensues.”

The sequel, which is currently being worked on, is due to be published in autumn 2018.

The authors added in the statement:

“The success of the book took us completely off guard. We never in a million years expected so many people to fall in love with Aisling.

“But now that they have, we’re excited to continue her adventures.”
