Just try not to get sued along the way by EVERYONE you know!
The Godfather
The Godfather and his son Michael Corleone are the brains behind this family affair and it proves that if you can work through the hard times, anything is yours for the taking.
It’s also pretty hard to ignore the film for its business credentials when it offers up some of the most sound advice of all time, “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse”.
Wolf of Wall Street
There’s two pretty important business lessons you’re going to learn from this little number – always see a gap in the market, and make sure you have the smartest team behind you when you take over the world.
Also, try resisting the idea of starting out on your own if you end up fabulously wealthy, sipping champagne and living in the lap of luxury…
Honorary Mention:
You should even just watch this movie for Matthew McConaughey. AMAZING
Wall Street
See what happens when the desire to succeed takes over your life and the motto ‘Greed is good’ directs how you do business.
It might seem a little intense for a start-up, but hey, it’s important to remember to keep your feet on the ground. And out of trouble.
Pursuit Of Happiness
We still remember the mascara running down our faces for this one. Will Smith took the real-life story of one man who lost everything, to achieve business success. Against all odds, he takes an unpaid internship to become a stockbroker, fighting against his peers for a single job at the end of it.
If you need the push to realise starting out on your own isn’t always going to be easy, this is worth a look. It helps that Will Smith’s acting makes for some pretty incredible scenes too.
Catch Me If You Can
Yes, there’s a great story, great ambition and a lot of fun along the way, but ultimately selling out on yourself leaves you alone on Christmas day.
If you start losing the run of yourself, stick this on for a bit of a reality check.
Jerry Maguire (Obviously…)
We couldn’t do a list without honouring the man himself. He starts out on his own with a receptionist, one contract and a goldfish and still manages to come out a winner.
“Show me the money!”… and show us this film. We dare you not to join in shouting...
