The explosive new trailer for season three of The Handmaid’s Tale is here

“If I’m going to change things, I’m going to need allies.”

The first full trailer for the third season of The Handmaid’s Tale is finally here – and so is the revolution.

The new footage, released by Hulu on Wednesday, shows June/Offred heading back into Gilead to help the resistance movement – and in the hopes of trying to save her daughter, Hannah, from having to grow up in the authoritarian state.

It also gives brief updates on many of the other characters including Emily, who escaped Gilead last season, with June’s daughter Nicole in tow – and that the pair make it to Canada safely.

The trailer also hints that Serena Waterford could be switching teams and helping the Handmaids.

“If I’m going to change things, I’m going to need allies,” June declares in a meeting with the Commander’s wife, adding: “As Mrs. Waterford you have influence.”

Serena agrees that she has influence “up to a point”, before June tells her: “So move the point.”

The third season of The Handmaid’s Tale will return to Hulu in North America on June 5.

There hasn’t been an exact date set (yet) for when the drama will return to RTÉ2, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed it won’t be too far behind.

The station was the first to air season two of the drama, with episodes premiering the day after its North American broadcast.

But in the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.

The news comes after the cover for the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale was revealed.

The Testaments – which is unrelated to the TV series – will pick up 15 years after the original novel left off.

The follow-up to the dystopian novel was announced in November last year. It will be released worldwide on September 10, 2019.
