The hosts of the Irish Dancing With The Stars have been confirmed

Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram have confirmed that they will be the new hosts of Dancing With the Stars.

The duo revealed the news on RTÉ Radio One this morning.

The Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing is set to begin in January and run until March.

The rumour mill is in overdrive speculating who will appear on the first season of the show.

Accoridng to The Independent, it’s likely to be Des Bishop, RTE reporter Teresa Mannion, GAA player Aidan O’Mahony and Irish Big Brother star Hughie Maughan. Thalia Heffernan is also expected to make her first foray into TV with an appearance on the show.

A spin-off show called Can’t Stop Dancing will be hosted by Blathnaid Treacy.

Shinawil productions’ Larry Bass is at the helm of the new show.

Speaking when the show was announced this year he said:

“The only place in the world it’s called Strictly Come Dancing is in the UK,” he explained. “Every other country around the world it’s referred to as Dancing with the Stars.

“It was one of those shows that the BBC keep close to their chest. It’s a hugely important format for them and they’re very particular where it goes and what happens to it. Finally they’ve agreed to allow RTÉ do it.”
