This Video Commemorating The Women Of 1916 Is Really Moving

It's International Women's Day, and there has already been one beautiful tribute to the 300 women involved in The Rising this morning, and now a video has been released telling the moving story of Margaret Kehoe.

Kehoe was a Carlow woman and a nurse who was fatally injured as she tried to aid the wounded on April 24th, 1916.

She was fatally wounded tending to Dan McCarthy, who survived. Originally buried in the grounds of the SDU, her body was reinterred in the graveyard of St. Fintan’s Church, Ballinabranna, County Carlow.

Directed by Kate Dolan, and produced by  bigOmedia, it's a stark and poignant tribute to the sacrifices made by the women who took part in the 1916 Rebellion.

There are a series of events that will be starting from today to celebrate the role women played in the Rising, and more information can be found here.
