Two seriously cool female street artists will be battling it out in Dublin this weekend

You’ve got 99 minutes and three cans of spray paint – what do you do to impress a roaring crowd?

That’s the challenge that will be faced by two street art talents battling it out in front of a live audience in Dublin this weekend. Yeah, this stuff happens in real life and not just in movies – who knew?

Scottish artists Shona Hardie and KMG are jetting in to Ireland especially for the Life Styles event, which takes place in the North Strand area of the city.

The two women will only have three paint cans to play with: one black, one white and a colour of their choice. The audience will decide the theme of their battle before it begins, and then the challengers have just an hour-and-a-half to create some magic against the soundtrack of a live DJ.

The artist who best impresses the crowd –  measured by their cheers, so things are bound to be raucous – will be crowned the winner.

Hailing from Edinburgh, Shona Hardie is an illustrator and pyrographer (that means she burns designs into wood – you learn something new every day) as well as a street artist. Her designs often incorporate people and animals. Her opponent KMG is a mural artist and illustrator whose work typically features bright colours and surreal figures.

For anyone in the audience who fancies themselves as the next Maser, there will also be the chance to try out your own spray paint skills on a graffiti wall at the event.

The Life Styles street art battle takes place at 1A Hyacinth Street, North Strand on Saturday October 26, 2019, from 7am-11pm. Tickets are priced at €10, plus booking fee, and include refreshments from Jameson. They can be booked here.
