Won't someone please think of the fans.

No Zayn, no.

Back in March 2015, Zayn Malik broke a lot of One Directioner’s hearts when he announced that he would be leaving the band.

It ultimately led to the end of One Direction the following January when they announced that they would be taking a break for a while. They initally hinted that it would only be for 18 months but as we’re nearing the year mark that’s not looking likely. Plus they’re all off doing their own thing these days.

At the time when Zayn left he said that he wanted to be a normal 22 year old for a while. He issued an official statement on One Direction’s Facebook page saying:

“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.

‘I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.

“I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”

And now, over a year and a half since he left the band he’s after dropping a huge truth bomb. He never actually wrote that statement.

Speaking to ES Magazine about the statement he said:

“[He smirks and leans forward] ‘I’m going to ask you a question now — do you think I wrote that? Like, look how it’s worded. I’m not a 35-year-old lawyer. I don’t write like that,’ [he sits back, satisfied.]”

Look – we’re under no illusion he came up with all of it by himself and you can be sure he had a pretty hefty legal team breathing down his neck but could he not just play along for the sake of the fans.
