However, now in the world we live in, even pop culture and real-life references come in the way of choosing a name. A survey of 1,434 parents carried out by ChannelMum revealed that awkward cultural associations is also a major factor these days, and the website picked the top 11 names that new parents are staying away from.
So, without further ado, here are baby names parents are not going near this year:
Alexa – because of Amazon's Alexa
Felicia – because of 'Bye, Felicia'
Katie – because of Katie Hopkins
Kate – because apparently, people prefer Meghan Markle these days
Scarlett – because 'other shades' of colour are better, eg. Violet
Lauren – because apparently a LOT of reality stars have the same name
Stan – because of the hashtag #Stan
Harvey – because of Harvey Weinstein
Christian – because of the Fifty Shades
Ryan – because of Ryanair (lol)
Ollie – because it’s the name of an American pet food brand
