Five simple ways you can make your morning porridge more exciting

Porridge is the perfect way to start the day.

It fills you up, gives you lots of energy and it’s also really good for you too. It’s a great healthy alternative if you’re trying to stay on track and a handy brekkie that you can grab on the go.

If you usually just have some milk with your oats then why not mix things up and try something different?

We decided to take a look at some of the ways you can jazz up your morning porridge at home. We will definitely be trying out some of these recipes this week.

Banana, chia seeds, peanut butter and honey

This is one of our favourite porridge recipes and it’s so simple. Chia seeds and peanut butter are a great source of protein while the banana and honey make it nice and sweet.

Dried fruit and coconut flakes

Don’t have any fresh fruit? Don’t worry. Throw a handful of dried cranberries, sultanas and raisins into your morning porridge for a healthy twist. We love adding coconut flakes too.

Kiwi, almonds and honey

Add some crunch to your morning oats with some unsalted almonds. They go great with a chopped up kiwi and a teaspoon of honey drizzled on top.

Apple and cinnamon

The perfect combination. This one tastes even better if you serve the apple on top of warm porridge before adding a dusting of cinnamon. Pure heaven!

Chocolate porridge

Oh lordy! This one is a real treat. Chocolate porridge is surprisingly easy to make just add cocoa powder to your usual recipe. We love breaking up a few squares of our favourite chocolate to sprinkle over the top too. It’s the perfect weekend treat.
