Aldi is selling wine fridges today and that’s the kind of stockpiling we can get into

Leslie Ann Horgan

They’re on sale today!

With gigs and social events being cancelled by the minute, it looks as though we’ll be spending a LOT of our social time at home in the next few weeks.

So how perfect would it be to have your very own wine cooler in your house to see you through?

Wine coolers are purpose-built fridges that are temperature controlled to keep your vino at the perfect chill level. While the full-sized coolers are brilliant – with zones in different temperatures for reds, whites and bubbles – they are really bulky and really only built for spacious homes (not to mention larger budgets).

Space won’t be an issue with Aldi’s mini wine cooler, however. The free-standing appliance measures approximately 25 x 51.5 x 46cm and has a 23-litre capacity. In real terms, that means you can fit about eight bottles into this little beauty and it can comfortably sit on a counter top.

Priced at €69.99, the black metal chillers include three chrome shelves and a glass door, and have an electronic temperature display on the front.

Who needs to go to a pub or wine bar, when you can get the professional effect at home – and enjoy it in your pyjamas!

Part of Aldi’s Home Refresh event, the wine fridges went on sale at Aldi stores nationwide this morning –Thursday, March 12, 2020 – but we’re hoping everyone was so distracted stocking up on toilet rolls and tinned good that there will still be a few left.
