The best way to reheat chips without them going soggy

Jade Hayden

We’ve all been there.

You get in after a night out. You forgot to pick up food on the way home. You’re absolutely starving.

You stumble into the kitchen to find that your roommate didn’t finish their chips from their takeaway earlier.

You are delighted and yet, apprehensive because you know that if you attempt to heat these chips, they’ll go soggy, wet, and essentially ruin your night, probably.

It’s an issue that has plagued the human race since the dawn of man – and finally, we have a solution to the soggy chip conundrum.

Basically, the trick is to stay away from the microwave.

We know, we know, there are fewer more glorious things in this life than the ability to heat something up in two minutes and go about your day, but it is literally impossible to reheat chips in a microwave without them going soggy.

It’s just the natural order of things.

So, in order to revitalise your chips to an acceptable level of crunch, you’ll need a few things.

One of those things is the willpower to commit to such an event when you’re undeniably a fair bit drunk. The other is a hob.

Throw those chips in a pan with a little oil, keep the heat down low, and cook away until they’ve returned their original cripsy, non limp selves.

You’ll also need to make sure that you’ve left a good amount of space between each of the chips in the pan because overcrowding won’t mean enough cooking space for each individual chip.

A true tragedy, we know.

Once you’ve got your chips looking healthy again, you may as well throw in a bit of paprika and salt to give them that bit of extra spiciness we all crave when we’re drunk and trying to fill the gaping hole in our bellies.

We deserve better than a lack of seasoning, after all.
