When the competition is tough you gotta seriously raise your game.

The second annual Burger Festival, held in association with Ballymaloe Foods is set to take place from January 28 – February 3 and will conclude with a competition to determine the best burger in Ireland and in each county.

Last year in Cork, popular restaurant Son of a Bun was crowned with the prestigious title of best burger and in an attempt to retain their title, have invented a mighty new concoction.

Their “pure daycent” burger is entitled The Chipper and comprises of well, the works!

From curry sauce to a cheese and onion potato pie, TWO 3oz patties and cheddar cheese you’d want to have some appetite to finish this bad boy!

Located on MacCurtain Street, Son of a Bun’s entire menu is homemade, from sauces to chicken wings, salads, and desserts, absolutely everything is prepped daily. Their signature brioche bun is baked fresh every morning and their meat is ground onsite daily using carefully selected cuts of Aberdeen Angus beef.

Strong contenders indeed.

As part of the festival, you’ll also be able to nab yourself a free burger from The Hatch. Drop by the famous food truck when they rock up to Dundrum (Thursdays), Kilkeel (Fridays) or Newcastle (Saturdays) and order your favourite burger from the menu. As part of Ireland’s annual Burger Festival, they’ll hand you a second burger absolutely free of charge.

Now, all I want to know is are there any veggie options available?!
