Cadbury’s vegan Dairy Milk has finally arrived in Ireland

Katy Brennan

The wait is over.

January means Veganuary, a time of year that brings an abundance of new plant-based products.

Finding decent chocolate is one of the hardest things to do when you ditch dairy, but now it appears our prayers have been answered.

Cadbury has launched a plant-based version of its classic Dairy Milk bar in not one, but two flavours – smooth chocolate and smooth chocolate with salted caramel.

Called ‘Plant Bar’, the new addition is the company’s first ever vegan chocolate bar – a response to the ever-growing demand for plant-based options.

Cadbury has been working to perfect the bar for two years, making sure to maintain the creamy taste we all know and love by replacing whole milk with almond paste.

The almond paste is said to “provide a similar taste and texture to milk ingredients while offering a hint of nuttiness”.

What’s more, The Plant Bar range is fully suitable for vegans, as registered by the Vegan Society, and comes in eco-friendly packaging, using certified bio-sourced plastics made from renewable sources.

“We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumours swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar in Ireland are true!” said Cadbury brand manager Eileen Leahy.

“Our ambition has always been to provide a wide range of tasty products and want to offer more choice to more consumers and the new Plant Bar give us something different, but equally delicious.’’

The new bar is currently available in Dunnes and Super Valu and costs €3.99. It’s also set to arrive in Tesco from March onwards.

We can’t wait to try!
