You can buy an ‘Avozilla’ in Tesco from tomorrow and we’re fairly intrigued, tbh

Look. At. It.

If you thought the housing crisis was bad when regular sized avocados existed, just imagine how chronic things are going to be now that you can buy yourself a giant avocado that’s five times the size.

Pretty bad, we’d say.

Just kidding – as we all know the housing crisis is caused by a lack of affordable residential areas and greedy landlords, not a delicious fruit.

If anything, the humble avo just makes our days that little bit easier to get through… and we’re hoping that the introduction of this giant avocado is going to have the same effect.

The ‘Avozilla’, as it is so aptly called, is an avocado that sits at five times the size of a regular avocado.

It’s a cross between two types of avocado, the West Indian and the Guatemalan varieties and despite its seemingly abnormal size, they are naturally grown in South Africa and not genetically modified.

And they’ll be available in a load of Tesco stores across the country from tomorrow.

Beautiful.

The Avozillas will be priced at €4.00 a pop but due to the rareness of the fruit, only a limited stock will be available.

So basically, get yourself one tomorrow (Friday) or else you won’t be getting one at all.

Tesco Ireland’s fresh food buyer Ciaran Doyle said:

“They are extremely rare and come from just four trees grown by one of the world’s biggest suppliers of avocados in South Africa.

“Deliveries will be going into eighty of our stores across the country on Friday morning and will be available this weekend while stocks last.”

So, will you be getting your hands on one?
