Calling all vegans – this one is for you.

There’s nothing like sitting on the couch after a long day with a cup of tea and a KitKat to dunk into it.

But, of course, not everyone can enjoy this luxury, until now that is.

KitKat has released a brand new version of their chocolate bar – and it’s completely plant-based.

This highly anticipated choccy bar has hit SuperValu and Centra stores across the country, and doesn’t seem to be much different than the original.

KitKat V has a rice-based chocolate coat on top of the wafer we all know and love.

Louise Barrett, Head of the Nestlé Confectionery Product Technology Centre said: “Our challenge when we set out to create a vegan-friendly KitKat was to recreate this iconic product using plant- based alternatives.”

“To achieve this, we worked very hard to get the right balance between the milk alternative and the cocoa. The result is a vegan chocolate that we are very proud of, and I hope all KitKat fans will love it as much as we do.”

It’s also important to note that the KitKat V has been certified by the Vegan Society, so it’s definitely a must if you’re on a plant-based diet.

It’s made using 100% certified sustainable cocoa, which comes from the Nestlé Cocoa Plan in conjunction with the Rainforest Alliance, so that’s an extra plus.

Maria McKenna, Confectionery Marketing Manager, Nestlé Ireland added: “KitKat has been championing breaks since 1934 and while people’s need for breaks hasn’t changed, the way we take them has.”

“KitKat is such a successful brand because it has evolved throughout its history, and the arrival of our vegan-friendly bar means there is now a delicious alternative for anyone looking to enjoy a plant-based break.”
