You can now buy prosecco pasta in a packet and our stomachs just turned

Know anyone who'd eat it?

Anna O'Rourke

This has to be peak prosecco.

We love a glass of bubbles as much as the next person but we have to draw the line somewhere.

For us, we reckon the line stands firmly at this new prosecco and mushroom packet pasta.

It’s a limited edition release from Batchelors Pasta ‘N’ Sauce range and we’re seriously unsure about it.

Rather than actual prosecco, the product is made from prosecco powder, whatever that is.

You make this ready meal by adding water, milk and butter.

It’s 450 calories per packet and is available to buy in Asda in the UK, where it retails for a cool 75p.

We can’t find a stockist for it in Ireland but have reached out to the manufacturer and will update the story when we find out.

In the meantime, we have our own recipe for fresh homemade prosecco pasta.

There are sure to be a few food fans out there who’d happily eat the packet one but if we were to have any prosecco pasta, we’d be having this instead.

Made with real prosecco, it comprises of seared shrimp in a sharp lemon cream sauce and lots of tagliatelle. Delish.

You can find the recipe here.
