There is a chicken wing festival coming to Bray next month

Rory Cashin

Nom nommy nom nom.

Chicken wings are great.

We’ll probably have that put on our tombstones.

“Here lies JOE, lover of chicken wings, because chicken wings are great.”

So the fact that there is a chicken wing festival makes perfect sense, because festivals are basically big celebrations, and chicken wings deserve to be celebrated.

Running from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July, the Wings Food Fest will be taking place on the Bray Seafront in Wicklow, and it is free for everyone to enter!

There will be over 15 pop-up wings outlets ready to cater to needs in terms of spicy-ness or flavours or what have you, as well as some wing-eating competitions, including a “How Hot Can You Go?” test of nerve!

Plus, they are currently searching for Ireland’s favourite chicken wings, with the polls open now for people to submit their picks, before the shortlist is announced after Friday 7 July.

And while it is, y’know, a chicken wing festival, those who are tagging along with chicken wing lovers but aren’t themselves lovers of the chicken wing, will be happy to know that there will also be the Seafront fun fair, over 30 street food (most likely not all chicken wing outlets) and craft markets, live music, and DJs spinning top rock anthems and some classic 80s tunes.

Full details on the fest can be found here.
