Crisps 'too hard' for girls, says Doritos... so it's making them 'women-friendly'

Really? REALLY?

We don't know if they're legit joking, but a spokeswoman for the brand has come out to say that because women don't like to "crunch" their crisps, Doritos is making theirs softer for us...

According to Indra Nooyi, chief executive at PepsiCo, which owns the famous brand, the new crisps will also come in smaller packs for women, and we honestly can't think of a sane reason for this either.

So we can hold them in our purses?!

She told Freakonomics Radio: "As you watch a lot of the young guys eat the chips, and they lick their fingers with great glee, and when they reach the bottom of the bag they pour the little broken pieces into their mouth, because they don’t want to lose that taste," she said.

"Women I think would love to do the same, but they don’t. They don’t like to crunch too loudly in public. And they don’t lick their fingers generously and they don’t like to pour the little broken pieces and the flavour into their mouth."

Eh, yeah we do.

Indra said that because of the 'reasons' listed above, the brand will introduce gender-specific bags with a "low-crunch" and we won't "have so much of the flavour stick on their fingers."

This didn't go down well on Twitter (obvs):
