See? Ordering takeaway can do a lot of good, lads.

Deliveroo has raised €30,000 for HSE frontline workers through customers orders and an additional financial contribution.

The takeaway delivery service raised the much needed money for the HSE’s Covid-19 fund, which is used to purchase necessary PPE supplies and equipment for frontline workers across Ireland.

The €30k was raised by Deliveroo customers over the past two months, who have been offering support to the HSE by rounding-up the cost of their meal when paying on the app at ‘checkout.’

Deliveroo also added their own financial contribution to the funds, all of which will go directly towards the HSE.

“We are grateful to receive this donation from Deliveroo and the generous customers across Ireland,” said Paul Reid, HSE CEO.

“The HSE has had massive support from business, communities, social groups and individuals in recent months and for this we are very thankful.’’

Will Shu, CEO and co-founder of Deliveroo added: “We know that our customers throughout Ireland are hugely appreciative and supportive of heroic healthcare workers’ efforts to keep us all safe.

“Nurses, doctors and paramedics, together with the wider healthcare team, have worked tirelessly every day risking their lives for others. We are proud to be able to say thank you to them in this small way, alongside our generous customers.”

See? All those takeaways you ordered during lockdown were worth it, guys.

If you very generously rounded up your meal, obviously.
