A deluxe Baileys hot chocolate is exactly what you need for a cosy Friday in

Need.

If there’s one thing we love on a chilled out, relaxed night in, it’s a Baileys.

Not too heavy, not too light, the Irish cream drink has been satisfying our alcohol-fuelled tastebuds for years now.

You can’t go wrong with it really… except when it’s absolutely freezing and the last thing you want to be doing is hunting around the freezer for ice.

All is not lost though because Baileys, as we all know, can be enjoyed hot or cold (and thank God too because we weren’t about to stop drinking it).

The drink we’re going to be draining out of our mugs tonight is the deluxe Baileys hot chocolate.

It’s got everything you need to survive even the harshest of weather events – Baileys, chocolate, cream… that’s it really but honestly you wouldn’t be needing much more.

The recipe comes from Delish.com and we can confirm it is, indeed, delish.

To make yourself this divine drink you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1/4 Melted chocolate, for rim
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Crushed oreos, for serving
  • Chocolate Sauce, for serving

The method is as follows (serves 4):

1. Bring milk to a simmer in small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the sugar and cocoa powder and stir until no lumps remain. Stir in chocolate chips and vanilla until the chocolate is completely melted and, of course, add the Baileys.

2. Pour melted chocolate in a small dish. Dip cups in the chocolate to rim the cup. Pour hot chocolate into each glass, then top with whipped cream.

3. Garnish with crushed Oreos and drizzle more with chocolate sauce. Serve immediately.

Happy drinking!
