Fancy making gin, vodka and beer for a living? Now is your chance to do it.

If you’ve always wanted something far from the 9-5 life and fancy being a bit more hands on – then this college course could be just for you.

Dublin Institute of Technology’s BSc Food Innovation Brewing and Distilling focuses on: Science of Brewing & Distilling, Spirits and Liqueurs, International Beers & Draught Dispensing Management.

The distilling course is part of a larger course called Food Innovation, however you can choose to go down the distilling route at year three.

The course outline is:

“This programme will allow entry into a career in the food and drinks industry as a technologist capable of ensuring the production of ethical, safe and wholesome food and drinks.

The student will acquire the knowledge of the scientific disciplines fundamental to the development of novel foods and drinks, with the business acumen (including finance and management) to be.”

You also have the option to study abroad: “Students may have the opportunity to complete a semester, full year, project work or work placement abroad under the Lifelong Learning Programme/ERASMUS mobility schemes or their equivalent in other countries.”
