Feeling sluggish? This energy boosting smoothie is the kick you need

YUM!

Denise Curtin

Feeling a little “ehh”?

Yeah, we all feel a little “ehh” at times. Be it a bad nights sleep, a total lack of sleep, a super busy week or just a case of eating the wrong foods, there isn’t a person on this planet who hasn’t felt like this at some stage.

But the good news is, if today you are feeling a little groggy and tired, this wonder smoothie is sure to put that pep back in your step and fill you full of nutrients plus give you a good serving of that essential five-a-day.

This smoothie is packed with berry vanilla goodness as well as low-fat dairy and bananas. It’s sweet and creamy and ideally drank at breakfast to make your morning magical and set you up for the day!

Ingredients

8 oz. low-fat milk
1∕3 cup light cottage cheese
¼ cup blueberries, frozen
¼ cup blackberries, frozen
¼ cup red grapes, frozen
½ banana, sliced and frozen
¼ tsp. vanilla extract

Preparation

  1. Cut up banana in slices. Freeze banana and grapes.
  2. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add more or less milk to desired consistency. Add your choice of sweetener, if desired.

A quick tip, if you aren’t using frozen fruit, or didn’t get a chance to freeze your fruit, fear not, simply add ice to give it that chilled, frosty taste. This smoothie is also a great one post-gym to feed your body after a tough workout.

We love it!
