The Dough Bros, a pizza joint in Galway City has been named as the best pizza takeaway in Europe by 50 Top Pizza, a global guide to pizza run by experts Barbara Guerra, Albert Know and Luciano Pignatoro.
The restaurant, which was founded by brothers Eugene and Ronan Greaney, also nabbed the number one spot in Ireland, and came in 27th globally.
The Dough Bros started life as a food truck, before establishing itself as the Galwegian staple it is today. As well as serving up delicious pies day after day, the restaurant launched their hugely popular at-home pizza kits during the pandemic.
The brothers tuned in to the presitigious awards, which took place in Milan, Italy.
They shared their reaction to their win on social media, and thanked everyone who had supported them along the way.
“A magical buzz,” they wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to everyone who supported us along the way. The best is yet to come.”

Over on Instagram, they spoke more about being named the best pizza takeaway in Europe.
“The last 18 months have thrown some major curveballs but despite it all, it has been our most rewarding yet,” they wrote.
“We have never been more excited or driven about the future and what lies ahead.”
In presenting The Dough Bros with their award, 50 Top Pizza acknowledged the hard work and care the Greaney brothers put into their business.
They said: “During these past 18 months that have been so challenging for the worldwide restaurant sector, two brothers from Galway have transformed the roadblock of the health crisis into an opportunity.
“They never lost courage, but instead perfected their delivery service and even created a kit to make pizza at home. The pizza is baked in a wood-fired oven in their establishment near Galway. They have done a great job. Besides the doughs, their selection of raw materials is always at the highest of standards. Even the kits will produce one of the best pizzas in the country.”
