Galway's hugely successful Food Festival set to kick off again this Easter
Foodies will know where to be heading that weekend.
Running from Thursday 29 March to Monday 2 April, the Galway Food Festival will be running for the 7th year, and is double-y important this year as Galway is the 2018 host to the European Region of Gastronomy, which means the food game will be ramped up even higher than usual!
Some of the city's biggest and best bars, cafes, hotels, restaurants and stores are taking part in the festival, showing off to everyone just why Galway is seen as one of the best locations in Europe for lovers of food (which, to be fair, is all of us).

The highlights of the weekend include everything from cooking demonstrations, to wine and cocktail tasting masterclasses, to a cupcake decorating experience, as well as the Food Truck Village at the Spanish Arch, or "Dinner & A Movie" which includes a meal at The G Hotel accompanied by a ticket to see a film at the EYE Cinema, and we will see the return of two of the most popular events:
- Breaking Bread, an exhibition of culture and food by participating groups, including mouth-watering traditional and modern dishes to taste and share with the public, which over 3000 people visited last year, showing an enormous appetite from Galway people to share in the many cultures of the city and county
- Halla Bia, Galway's first indoor food market, which last year cast a spotlight on a wide range of produce is back to showcase the best of the West with more than 40 producers and a bigger variety of products than ever before.
