Adding just one thing to your pan will give you the crispiest rashers you've ever eaten

The best ideas are always the simplest.

One of the banes of every cook’s life is the spatter that comes from frying or cooking anything in oil. Your oven top, counters, and walls can end up covered in grease, even if fry things like bacon at a low enough heat.

Well, some clever bugger has come up with a solution for that: the Frywall.

This is a silicone gadget – not unlike a dog’s cone – that can be placed inside the rim of a pot or pan to act as a guard against messy spraying from sizzling food.

Its creators insist that the guard will keep “sautéing, frying, and marinating food even as it’s exposed to high temperatures. And even though the walls are high…the soft silicone is angled for easy access to the food.”

Best of all, it can be chucked in the dishwasher afterwards. Watch a video demo of it below:

It’s currently for sale in 10-inch/12-inch versions costing around €20/€29.
