This steak restaurant in the heart of Belfast is the perfect casual date night spot

Planning a trip to Belfast soon?

I adore going out for a fancy dinner, however sometimes you want something in-between. Relaxed, yet sophisticated. Casual, yet elegant.

While on a trip to the North of Ireland recently, I was asked to stop by Bar + Block in Belfast. There are a few locations of this restaurant in the UK but I have never been so didn’t know what to expect – but it’s safe to say I left happy.

For the starters, it’s recommended that three starters are shared between two people. We went for Pulled Beef Tacos, Salt and Pepper Squid and some Middle Eastern King Prawns.

The tacos were my favourite – so succulent, juicy and full of flavour. I’m also one that loves to nibble on a bit of everything so having three starters to share was ideal.

For the main course I went for a fillet steak with thickly cut chips. I requested it to be medium-rare and when it came out it was cooked perfectly. I ate every last bite.

My travel buddy opted for The Mighty Block Burger and boy, to say it was full. Filled to the brim with toppings, I had a little chomp of it and it was delicious.

For dessert, neither of us could resist the Sticky Toffee Pudding (it’s my all-time favourite dessert). It came out steaming, was covered if toffee sauce and had ice cream on top which was a gorgeous addition.

If you’re looking for something to satisfy your cravings after a long day, or a little casual date night spot, definitely try Bar + Block. I promise all steak lovers out there will be happily fulfilled. You can check out the menu here.
