Delish.

We’re in full-on countdown mode now.

Yup, with just four months until Meghan Markle and Prince Harry say ‘I do,’ at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, you can also taste the delightfully OTT pomp and pageantry.

While Meghan’s dress will no doubt be most keenly anticipated, we’re also looking forward to a good nose at the particulars of the couple’s high-profile Big Day.

That, of course, very much includes their cake. And if Meghan and Harry are looking for #inspo – a gift this week might well  have given them food for thought.

Step forward the five-tier cheese cake… literally a cake made from cheese. It was gifted to them on their Thursday trip to Wales and was made by the Snowdonia Cheese Company which is based in Rhyl.

Director of the cheese company, Simon Mercer, told Hello: “We made it for them. It’s to celebrate their wedding and to offer our congratulations to them.

“We do get asked to make wedding cakes occasionally. We have been asked in the past to do it.”

Richard Palmer, royal correspondent with the Daily Express, shared a video of the occasion – with Meghan and Harry seen tucking in with gusto.

The layers of the cake are made up of Beechwood, a smoked cheddar; Red Storm, a vintage Red Leicester; Black Bomber, an extra mature cheddar; and Green Thunder, a cheddar with garlic and herbs.

Delish.

Prince Wills and Kate back in 2011 went traditional with a stunning eight-tier spectacle designed by cake-maker Fiona Cairns.

The masterpiece took five weeks to complete and was the centrepiece at William and Kate’s wedding reception, which took place in the picture gallery at Buckingham Palace.
