Here’s Why You Should Stop Storing Your Tomatoes In The Fridge

They don't like it.

Do you keep your tomatoes in the fridge?

When it comes to foods like butter, eggs and ketchup there is a certain amount of confusion surrounding the fraught refrigeration topic.

However, with tomatoes, it’s never been a question – clearly, they belong in the fridge?!

Well, turns out we were wrong, and tomatoes are actually a lot happier at room temperature.

According to Marie Claire (and a lot of other scientific studies), tomatoes lose their flavour and become mushy when kept in the fridge, as the cold air stops the ripening process.

In order to ripen your tomatoes, they are best stored at room temperature in a brown paper bag, and once ripe, should last around three juicy days.

The ketchup however, stays in the FRIDGE. Don’t fight us on this.
