The low calorie sweet treat nutritionists recommend

Megan Roantree

Yum!

It has been said for as long as we can remember that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

However, if you work early or can’t function for the first few hours after you wake up, it can be hard to get the first meal of the day right.

But if you put together a list of simple recipes that are low calorie and high in nutrition, it can be a lot easier to manage.

One thing that should be on your list for when you’re feeling a sweet treat is pancakes.

If you’re opting for weight loss, there is a low calorie option doesn’t include the flour.

Simply mix one banana with two eggs until it’s very smooth (you can use a blender or nutribullet if you like) and pour it onto a hot frying pan.

It’s that simple. And comes in at around 250 calories.

However, if really love the classic pancake you’re in luck. A pancake with flour and eggs still only comes in at around 400 calories, just make sure you use wholemeal flour.

You will need:

  • Banana Pancakes containing;
  • 50g wholemeal Flour
  • 150ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp low fat Yogurt

My Nutrition Ireland recommends this recipe among their low calorie breakfast options.

So if you’ve got a sweet tooth and are trying to be healthy, don’t be afraid to still have some of your favourite treats.
