Meet the FAB new drink of Summer 2016: Frosé

Line up LAYDEEZ

The taste of Summer is finally here…

In the recent hot weather, it’s hard to know what to be drinking at barbecues, beer gardens or parties and we have already been graced with a few delicious frozen suggestions.

I just want something to taste good, look pretty but also COOL ME DOWN, you know what I mean?

My wishes and perhaps yours have been finally answered and it’s in the form of frosé, a frozen rosé wine slushie.

The even greater news is that it’s super easy and cheap as chips to make in your own kitchen. PRAISE THE LAWD!

According to BonAppetit, frosé is a simple recipe that just needs a little bit of common sense.

To serve 4-6 people, the ingredients include:

  • A bottle of rosé (duh)
  • Half a cup of sugar
  • 200g strawberries, quartered
  • 70 ml lemon juice

The method to make your frosé takes just four easy steps.

  1. Pour your rosé into a pan or tub (absolutely 100% NOT ICE CUBE HOLDERS) for approximately 6 hours. Ice cube holders shouldn’t be used as trying to break the rosé ice cubes out of the trays will break them and waste that precious wine.
  2. To make a syrup to sweeten up that frosé, boil half a cup of water with your sugar for 3 minutes. When the sugar dissolves, add your strawberries and take it off the heat to cool for 30 minutes. This will leave you with a strawberry syrup for the frosé. YUM. Strain this mixture through a sieve and chill, covered for another 30 minutes.
  3. Get your frozen wine out of the fridge and scrape it carefully into a blender with your lemon juice, strawberry syrup, a cup of ice and blend until smooth.
  4. Freeze the mixture again for 25-35 minutes to get a thicker consistency and blend it once more, until it resembles a slushee. Et VOILÁ!

If you’re especially attentive, your pretty pink slushie should resemble something like these…

Um. I used my ice cream maker to make frosé. ✨❄️???
