A woman turned her placenta into chocolates and people are confused

Jade Hayden

OK.

These days, people use placenta for a lot of different things.

Some people use it to make smoothies with, others keep it to make a placenta-based face mask, and some people use it to throw into the bin because they don’t really want much to do with it after their child is born, which is fair enough.

One thing we haven’t heard people using placenta for though is chocolate.

As in, making their own chocolate out of placenta.

As in, the placenta is in the chocolate.

Yeah. We were confused too.

Mum Kiley Whitworth recently shared her recipe for placenta white and dark chocolates online and people didn’t really know what to make of it, to be honest.

Kiley claimed that the chocolates would improve her postnatal health… and she said they tasted pretty good too.

First, Kiley enlisted the help of a Doula to help her prep her placenta, attached umbilical cord and all.

Then, the pair steamed the placenta, cut it into chunks, and placed it into a dehydrator to dry it out.

Next, after a mere 16 hours, the placenta was mixed in with some Oreos.

Yes, Oreos.

At this stage, the placenta was a powder so it was easy enough to turn into some white and dark chocolate pieces via moulds, cocoa powder and whatever else you need to make chocolate.

And, in fairness, they do look pretty nice.

We just hope she told whoever she gave them too what they were made out of.

Either way, people online weren’t all that impressed with the chocolate making mum.

Each to their own.
