NOTIONS! Penneys is now selling healthy vegan snacks for €1

DELISH!

Gillian Fitzpatrick

Penneys – a long-standing haven for shoppers and a retail outlet very much ingrained in Irish culture.

However, while once-upon-a-time you went there for knickers, school socks, vests, and leggings, over the last decade it’s become seriously chic.

So much so, in fact, that Penneys is now stocking fancy-pants vegan treats. Made by the Sligo-based Good4U, the snacks only cost between a euro and €1.20.

NOTIONS!

A statement from the makers reads: “Good4U snacks are full of natural ingredients and nutrients – not just another sugar-filled, empty-calorie energy bar. Good4U’s promise to you is that their snacks will keep your energy levels high whilst also providing essential vitamins and minerals for your body and mind.”

Fair play.

The range includes the delicious Super Shots pouches (all priced at a euro):

  • Focus Super Shot: Apple and cinnamon flavour with roasted seeds, roasted apples, and raisins.
  • Recharge Super Shot: Coconut and berry flavour packed with coconut roasted seeds, blueberries, cranberries and coconut shavings.
  • Energise Super Shot: Cocoa and orange flavour packed with orange roasted seeds, cocoa nibs, chopped dates and cranberries.

Then there’s the Veggie Protein Super Shots packs: plant-based veggie shots in three savoury flavours – Smoky BBQ, Tandoori Crunch and Salt ‘N’ Pepper.

The above are all delish (we legit tucked in to every one of them) but the Good4U highlight for us was the energy balls, which cost €1.20.

They come in Mint & Cocoa, and Cocoa & Orange flavours. Both are fab (but the latter is probably our own personal preference).

Good4U began back in 2004 – kick-started by Sligo husband-and-wife duo Paul and Bernie. It’s a real family business with Paul and Bernie’s children Karol, Laura, Michelle, and Emma now all involved.
