One popular Dublin deli counter is getting rid of the breakfast roll

Olivia Hayes

RIP, goodbye.

Sometimes, there’s nothing quite like digging into a big breakfast roll. While we won’t be eating them every day, they do go down nicely if you’re travelling somewhere early in the morning or need some hangover grub.

Well, if you’re a fan of the breakfast roll then you’ll be disappointed to know that one popular chain in Dublin is doing away with it altogether.

Today FM has reported that Fresh The Good Food Market will say goodbye to the morning favourite.

Fresh’s Shane Byrne said in a statement that times are changing and they’re reacting to the demand in stores.

“I’m not saying that the breakfast roll man is dead, but we are seeing more ‘protein plumbers’ and ‘quinoa carpenters’ so people’s food habits are changing and we’re just getting ahead of that.”

Shane also had to deny that the store was not running away with themselves, saying “No Fresh is not getting notions.”

The minute the breakfast roll comes to find, the chicken fillet roll pops straight into our heads – and guys, it’s more bad news because the shop is phasing them out too.

Instead, they will have a more refined chicken fillet roll with grilled chicken on sourdough bread.

Don’t get us wrong, we wouldn’t say no to it… but we always will go back to the original when it’s needed.
