Starbucks is launching a colour-changing drink that may also change your life

So pretty. So stunning. So drinkable.

Starbucks has released a lot of new nice drinks in their time.

Here in Ireland, we tend to be only presented with the most generic of these drinks – think your pumpkin spice lattes and your cookies n’ cream frappuccinos and you macchiatos that aren’t actually macchiatos as we know them but are still pretty tasty so whatever.

Abroad though is where the real Starbz-magic happens – most notably in and around Asia.

Over the past few months, the guys over there have been introduced to everything from millennial pink lattes to giant frappuccinos that would probably give you heart palpitations but are very impressive, so whatever, it’s grand.

The latest incredible drink set to drop into selected Asian Starbucks stores is the Butterfly Pea Lemonade Cold Brew.

Don’t let the name put you off though because there’s no peas in there – just pastel, colour-changing, stunning goodness.

And the butterfly pea itself, but trust us, it’s delicious, probably.

(And even if it’s not, just looks how pretty it is, be grand.)

The butterfly pea is native to Thailand and Malaysia but has also recently been introduced to the likes of Africa, America, and Australia.

Its real name is ‘Clitoria ternatea’ due to the fact that the plant looks a little bit like female sex organs.

This is apparently where the name for the clitoris came from originally too, so ideal really that Starbucks Asia are planning to introduce the drink to mark the beginning of spring.

Butter pea is naturally blue in colour, however, combined with the citrus in lemonade it becomes a deep purple.

Imagine the Boomerangs, lads.

Imagine.

The butterfly pea lemonade will be available in select Asian stores from today.
