There’s a massive new food hall coming to Dublin and it sounds absolutely incredible

We can’t wait for this.

A massive indoor food hall – with 15 outlets and space for up to 400 diners – is reportedly set to open in Dublin city centre next summer.

The Irish Times report that Michael JF Wright Hospitality Group – the folks behind places like The Wright Venue, Twenty Two and the Marquette airport outlets – have taken a 25 year lease on St Andrew’s Church, on the corner of Suffolk Street and St. Andrew’s Street.

The publication report that the renovations on the property are expected to begin in early 2019, with the food hall expected to open its doors in June.

The 15 outlets will be made up of 10 food vendors, as well as three dessert/pastry outlets and two coffee kiosks. There will also be two bars.

Ewan McDonald, chief operating officer for Michael Wright Hospitality, told the publication:

“We want to add something very different to the Dublin food scene.

“Our concept is to bring the best of Irish artisan food to this location. Really high quality Irish food and Irish ingredients, but with a global flavour.

“Hopefully, this will translate into a really great choice of foods – something to suit all palates, from traditional Irish dishes, to Korean delicacies, to the latest in vegan offerings. The mix is central to the success of the food hall.”

He added that a “rotational kitchen” is going to be incorporated, which means that guest chefs will be able to take up 12-week residencies at the food hall to “showcase new talent and add variety for regular customers.”

Communal seating will be in the central aisle of the church, with more tables for smaller groups on the first floor. There will be further space for 100 more diners in the former parochial hall behind the church, which will be linked to the main structure via an enclosed walkway.

There will be further seating available outdoors – so, basically, the perfect venue for summer nights out.

We’ll see you there, so.
