You can’t beat a bubbly glass of prosecco – not least during the festive season.
Whether it’s your tried-and-tested pre-dinner tipple, pre-drinks go-to, or aperitif, it certainly has the capacity to liven up Christmas Day.
However, if you want to make sure that you will indeed be drinking the sparkling wine over the festive period, then you should buy a bottle before December 22.
Why? Well, Sainsbury’s did some research and worked out that this year it’s expecting to sell a record-breaking number of bottles of prosecco on (drum-roll, please) Saturday December 23.
The exact number? A cool 489,000 bottles.
Of course, this study relates to the UK, but we reckon similar patterns are evident in Ireland too.
Sainsbury’s notes that there will be a particularly mad rush in large supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and more. So the message is simple: stock up before or on December 22.
