There’s a whiskey pop-up gift store open ’til Christmas Eve and we’re there

Duly noted.

Gillian Fitzpatrick

There are two types of people: those who right now have all their Christmas shopping done. And those who do not.

If you fall into the latter category and you find yourself in Dublin’s city centre over the next couple of days, you might want to consider the Powers Pop-Up.

It’s been set-up in partnership with the L Mulligan Whiskey Shop and is based at the Powerscourt Town Centre (Clarendon Street entrance).

There the staff are giving out samples (win) and personalised engravings are available too… something that has delightful-last-minute-gift written all over it.

You can buy the standard gold label Powers – one of Ireland’s best-selling whiskeys – or splash-the-cash on a bottle from the crème-de-la-crème of the range (costing around the €200-mark).

We have it on good authority that the most popular item so far is the personalised Powers gold label bottle along and two gorgeous branded tumblers; that’s priced at a wholly-reasonable €45.

Recently, Powers held a bit of a ‘do to launch the store, with fancy-pants folk gathering for a whiskey masterclass that saw them sample all manner of delectable whiskey treats.

Powers dates back to 1791; they describe their ware as “wonderfully complex, spicy and honeyed”.
