This hack turns a hard avocado ripe and it only takes ten minutes

NICE.

Cathy Donohue

Brunch, or any meal really, is nothing without avocados and that’s why this hack is actually life.

As much as we love them, timing your meals around when they’re ripe is zero craic. I mean if you want an avocado on a Tuesday, you want an Avocado on a Tuesday.

Thanks to the folks at Purewow, you might be able to do just that and that makes us inexplicably happy.

Here’s how to go about it:

Wrap the hard as nails avocado in tinfoil and set it on the baking sheet.

Throw into the oven at about  95°C for ten minutes, or until the avocado is ripe and soft.

Take it out and throw it into the fridge until it cools off.

Why does it work?

Not to get all science-y on you but avocados produce something called ethylene gas.

Usually, it is slowly released but when an avocado is baked in tinfoil, the gas is released and thus speeds up the amount of time it takes to ripen.

GENIUS.
